From Our President
Shattuck-St. Mary’s revolves around establishing, developing, fostering, and furthering relationships. At the very core of our School lies the student-teacher relationship which is built on mentorship, modeling, expectation setting, support, and guidance. Through these relationships, students are transformed and teachers find purpose and meaning in their work. And, as an Episcopal school, we hold our relationship with God as paramount – one which has guided our past and present leaders and our practices.
Our history is built on relationships and this is certainly true of our remarkable alumni. Oftentimes, our alumni talk about the role their peers played in helping “raise one another”, an observation made years later upon reflection of their time here on campus. Likewise, they mentor and help guide young alumni entering the job market. They offer their counsel as we explore new and exciting initiatives. And, they steadfastly provide their philanthropic support as we grow and shape one of the nation’s most unique and distinguished college preparatory schools.
We are not standing still.
The exciting future of our school lies in our ability to continually foster relationships. We are expanding our global community by building a robust family of campuses. Students and faculty will be able to attend or teach at any one of several sites located in the U.S. and around the globe. Already, in addition to our main campus in Minnesota, we opened a school in Beijing, China in 2013 — Shattuck-St. Mary’s-Beijing Bayi School.
Shattuck-St. Mary’s has made a decision to continue to grow and expand, and to take what we are doing well in Minnesota to other locations, doing so based upon the contacts, connections, and relationships we have in these new settings. Ultimately, we know from experience that the School’s network of relationships will grow in size, complexity, meaning, and import – a growth that will produce more graduates, more opportunities for teachers and students alike, and more of an impact on future leadership across the globe.
