Financial Aid

Shattuck-St. Mary’s School (SSM) bases most financial aid decisions on demonstrated need, which is defined as the difference between the amount of tuition a family can afford to contribute and the actual cost of tuition. SSM reserves the right to make financial aid decisions based on a combination of the School’s admissions priorities and a family’s demonstrated need. For the 2012-13 school year, approximately 46% of our students received more than $3.2 million in aid.

Interested families should indicate that they are applying for financial assistance on the admission application completed online. Please note, financial aid is only awarded to students who have completed the application process.

The financial aid application process is a separate process managed through the School and Student Service (SSS) for Financial Aid of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). A family must file a Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) online at https://www12.student-1.com/SSSNet/. Shattuck-St. Mary’s School school code is 7324. In addition to the PFS, all families must electronically submit to SSS a filed IRS Form 1040 tax return for the current year as well as all W-2s for the two most recent tax years. All personal financial information disclosed to Shattuck-St. Mary’s School is kept strictly confidential.

If you are looking for a loan to help cover the costs associated with attendance, most loan providers for private school tuitions have suspended or canceled lending to the K-12 market. We suggest checking with local banks, as smaller providers sometimes have programs.
