Scholarships
Shattuck-St. Mary’s School supports 47% of its student population through the provision of need-based financial assistance grants. A small percent of the total financial assistance budget is dedicated to merit scholarships, which are offered in two areas:
- Academic achievement
- Visual and performing arts
Headmaster’s Scholarship Program
Since 1987, the Headmaster’s Scholarship program has recognized students with outstanding academic ability and the potential to contribute meaningfully to our school community in athletics, fine and performing arts, student government, community service or school publications.
Headmaster’s Scholarships are awarded to qualified new students applying to grades 9, 10 or 11. Renewable annually, the scholarships are valued at up to $5,000 for boarding candidates and up to $2,500 for day candidates. Families of Headmaster’s Scholars may also qualify for additional assistance through our regular financial assistance program. Students may request to be considered for a Headmaster Scholarship at the time of application and should have:
- Earned a GPA of 3.5 or better in the previous school year
- Scored better than the 95th percentile on national norms on a standardized test, such as the PSAT, SAT, SSAT, or ACT
- Completed an application for admission to Shattuck-St. Mary’s School
Visual and Performing Arts Scholarship
Shattuck-St. Mary’s School offers visual and performing arts scholarships for new students involved in dance, drama, music and visual arts. These competitive scholarships—worth up to $5,000 each—are awarded annually to new students entering grades 6-11 who excel in one or more of the visual and performing arts.
