ScholarShift Stories: Ace the Interview

January 27, 2017

Professional Interview Job Coach Alicia Kennedy teaches students how to be comfortable, confident, and ready for all aspects of the interview process.

Ms. Alicia Kennedy, a professional interview coach with more than 20 years of high-level marketing experience, led two ScholarShift module sessions aimed at helping students “Ace the Interview” on January 16, 18, and 20.

Held at the Inn at Shattuck-St. Mary’s, students were coached on all aspects of the interview process, including what to wear, specifics on how to prepare, why first impressions matter, typical interview questions and how to answer them, proper etiquette, positive, professional body language, and much more.

Students also learned how to better know themselves through creating their own personal “elevator speeches” that communicate their professional strengths and unique selling points, and allow them to present their best selves.

Perhaps just as importantly, the sessions also allowed students to gain confidence, dissolve any nerves associated with the perceived pressures of the interview process, and feel comfortable in a variety of different situations.
