About Don:
Don MacMillan joined SSM in 2013 as the Director of the Upper School. With more than 30 years of experience working with adolescents and their families as a teacher, coach, counselor, and administrator, Don has strong knowledge of and appreciation for boarding school life. Most of his career prior to SSM was associated with the Hyde School in Bath, Maine, where he served as its Head of School. In addition, he founded the Hyde Leadership Public Charter School of Washington, D.C. in 1999.
Don earned a B.A. in Psychology from Bowdoin College, an Ed. M. from Harvard Graduate School of Education, and a M.A. in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Substance Abuse and Addiction from Antioch New England Graduate School.
He and his wife, Gigi, live on campus in the Goldsmith House. They have two daughters out of college and a son, Wilson, who attends Bowdoin College.

My wife Gigi and I are now empty-nesters. Our oldest daughter is an aspiring singer/songwriter living in Nashville, our next daughter works for Apple in Cupertino, CA and our youngest, a son, is in his first year of college in Maine.
