 | Fayfield Hall Announcements Preparing the Science Department for the Move to Fayfield Hall 8/6/2010
Not all of the activity for Fayfield Hall this summer is taking place outdoors. Modifications to the existing Kingham Hall are slated to take place as well, which required the science department to vacate a lab and storage space for the coming year. The entire science faculty took several days at the end of spring term to prepare for the exciting developments. We sorted through old chemistry and physics equipment, packed up biology gear, and contracted for hazardous chemical removal of almost a century's worth of accumulated compounds and chemicals.
But not all unneeded items were discarded, however. Most of our surplus equipment found a new home with several new local charter schools and we even found buyers for a few antique scopes and parts that had exhausted their useable life decades ago.
Just like at home, any big move offers the chance to sort through your belongings and assess their value. For the SSM science department, not only did we make the best of this chance to clean house, but we were able to support the endeavors of several other educational institutions as well.

 Fayfield Hall Construction Updates 7/20/2010
Welcome to the Fayfield Hall Construction blog! Along with providing live views of the construction progress via webcam, we will also be updatinging you regularly with announcements posted to this page.
As you can see in the webcam, construction continues to move forward. Despite some recent severe rain and thunderstorms, we are sticking to an aggressive schedule and hope to be done by our deadline.
Although you may not be able to notice much day to day progress at this stage, much of the current work is being done outside the scope of the camera. The construction team is working hard to get all of the underground utilities relocated so that actual building can begin. This is no small task, as they have to safely navigate around steam tunnels, gas lines, optic fibers, cable lines, electric lines, sanitary sewer, water pipes, storm water pipes, and telephone lines.
This is an exciting time for Shattuck-St. Mary's School, and we hope that you will check this page often to follow the progress of our beautiful new building that will be home to our STEM and BioScience programs.
