The Shattuck-St. Mary’s School mission statement encompasses the life of the school: As a school community, Shattuck-St. Mary’s guides young people to be strong in character, mind, body and spirit for a life of learning and service. We take the development of tomorrow’s leaders very seriously, but no one element of effective leadership development stands alone. Just as leaders are found in a variety of social, political, economic and professional environments, student leaders at Shattuck-St. Mary’s will find their niche through guided lessons inside the classroom, on the ice, in the wilderness, in the dining hall, on the ropes course, on the climbing tower, on the stage or in the pages of their personal journals.
In addition to a solid academic base, our students need to have opportunities to explore their own potential, to try out new interests whether academic, athletic or artistic, and to develop and refine those talents that they will take with them well beyond the Arch. In order to create an environment where these goals can be achieved, Shattuck-St. Mary’s strives to offer the highest quality academic and extra-curricular programming possible.
