Our first-of-a-kind in the US Figure Skating Program features a unique approach……
Shattuck-St.Mary’s offers the only integrated elite figure skating program along with challenging academics in a boarding school environment. SSM is a college preparatory co-educational boarding and day school for students in grades 6-12. We combine a rigorous academic program for the highly motivated student while supporting and embracing their athletic dreams and goals. Our commitment is to help guide our student-athletes to be better students, better athletes and better citizens.
World and Nationally Recognized Coaches
Diana Ronayne, Director of Figure Skating and Coach: Former Director and Resident Coach at Colorado Springs World Arena, CO. Coach Ronayne brings to SSM years of experience in directing programs and coaching through international and world levels of skating. She has a strong belief in our unique model of combining academic and athletic excellence.
Tom Hickey, Director of Figure Skating Operations and Coach: Former Director of Skating at Twin Rinks Ice Pavilion, in Buffalo Grove, IL. Coach Hickey has years of experience in establishing and directing International/National skaters and training programs, learn to skate and performance skating schools, coaching education, and synchronized skating programs. He adds the experiences of learning to coach and community involvement through Academy Classes and performance experience in our yearly Ice Shows.
Support Staff
Our staff also includes full time nurses, athletic trainers, psychologists, counselors, college counselors and off-ice strength and dance coaches. We offer expert guidance to fully utilize our dance and conditioning programs.

SSM’s intensive figure skating and college preparatory programs are on one campus. Our state-of-the-art facilities provide perfect training conditions at our twin-rink sports complex. Two sheets of ice allow for daily training just a short walk from the Upper School dormitories and academic buildings.

Shattuck-St. Mary’s innovative program of combining excellence in academics and intensive figure skating training is a pioneering concept that offers student-athletes a new approach that doesn’t sacrifice college preparation or figure skating dreams.
