Members of the ISACS (Independent Schools Association of the Central States) accreditation team visited the first ever ISACS’ expansion school for the groundbreaking task of reviewing SSM-Bayi for official accreditation in April, 2015. Never before had ISACS (a regional group within the National Association of Independent Schools or NAIS) conducted an accreditation visit outside of the U.S. The team was comprised of educators and administrators from both U.S. and international schools.
Shattuck-St. Mary’s-Beijing-Bayi is in its third year of operation with 180 students in grades 10, 11, and 12. Also known as SSM-Bayi, it is the first expansion effort by Shattuck-St. Mary’s School in Faribault, Minnesota. Students attending SSM-Bayi receive a dual diploma when they graduate from Shattuck-St. Mary’s and Beijing-Bayi School. The first class to graduate from SSM-Bayi will be in 2016.
SSM-Bayi has paved the way for future expansion efforts not only under the Shattuck-St. Mary’s umbrella but other independent schools.
