World Languages

The world is a global community. Learning to communicate in more than one language is an essential life skill. We offer Spanish, French, Mandarin, Latin, and American Sign Language.

At a minimum, our students take three consecutive years of the same language in grades 9-12. ESL students may begin studying another language after they have completed their ESL sequence.

There are also advanced conversation classes offered in ASL, French, Mandarin, and Spanish, and AP options available in French, Latin, Mandarin, and Spanish. At the Middle School, we teach an exploratory class in Grades 6 and 7 (three languages in three terms) to expose the students to the skills necessary for language learning and help them make a decision on what language to study in the Upper School.
