Co-Op Sports

Shattuck-St. Mary’s is proud to offer athletic opportunities to all members of the student body who compete in a sport that is not currently offered at SSM. Through a partnership with Faribault High School, students will be able to participate in a wide range of sports and extracurricular activities as part of an athletic co-op.

This agreement provides the most comprehensive collection of sports and activities for all students. SSM students will have the chance to compete for Faribault High School in 14 different sports throughout the academic year.

The Boys Cross Country program features a Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Middle School team. The season is 12 weeks long with 10 competition dates. The first date of competition is August 22 and the last date of sectionals is October 26, with the potential for postseason qualification.

Co-Op Sports Frequently Asked Questions

Who should consider joining a co-op team?

Is there a fee to play on a co-op team?

What if I'm competitive in the sport I want to play?

What about my classes, will I have to be dismissed early from school?

What equipment do I need to buy?

Do I need money for meals on away trips?

What if I don't know anyone else from SSM who is going to play the sport I'm interested in?

Is there an added cost to participate?

How does my co-op team travel to away contests?

Is there anything else I need to know?

If a student joins a co-op team, they should plan to participate until the end of the season.
Some co-op teams have team events outside ot practice...team dinners, team get togethers, award ceremonies. Students should plan to participate in these events.
Students are NOT allowed to ride in a car with any student including teammates.
Students are allowed to ride in a car when a coach is driving.
Students must follow school rules, as they apply to SSM, when they are members of a co-op team.
Students must commit to being fantastic communicators with faculty and staff, expecially those who are providing transportation to and from SSM for practice and games, meets, and events.
Students must let their faculty manager know if they need a bagged dinner for a game, meet, or event at least 5 days before they need it.
Students are responsible to pick up their bagged dinner, from the cafeteria, before they are transported to the high school.
Students are responsible for communicating when they will return to Faribault High School from an away contest.
SSM is not responsible for students competing beyond the school year.
