The Shattuck-St. Mary’s Girls U16 hockey team competes in a rigorous seven-month schedule, averaging 50-55 games a season, with tournament play throughout the United States and Canada. The program has captured five USA Hockey Tier I National Championships. Numerous alumni have gone on to play either NCAA Division I or Division III hockey, as well as for their respective under-18 and senior national team programs.
Student-athletes are on the ice five to seven days per week and each participates in a year-round strength and conditioning program. Players have access to two NHL regulation-sized arenas and a 3v3 ice rink, a 10,500 sq. foot weight training and conditioning facility, video room for team and individual analysis, as well as an athletic training room providing advanced aquatic therapy and full-time athletic training staff.
Ellie Williams ‘11 joined the coaching staff for the 2017-2018 season after playing Division I hockey at St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. Williams played in 141 games as a Saint and was a captain during her senior year. She was an ECAC Hockey All-Academic team member in 2012, received a National Scholar Athlete award in 2014, and was a Mandy Swartz Award recipient in 2015 (an award that goes to a student-athlete who excels in the classroom, participates in fifty percent of the team's games, and demonstrates leadership on and off the ice). Her run with the Saints included an ECAC Hockey Tournament championship and NCAA quarterfinals appearance in 2012. She graduated in May 2015 with her bachelor’s degree in economics. While at St. Lawrence she was very involved with student-athletes on campus and worked on several community and charity events, and was the vice president her senior year of the Student-Athlete Advising Committee.
Before re-joining the Shattuck-St. Mary's community, Ellie spent two years earning her master’s degree in business administration from Iona College in New Rochelle, NY, while coaching youth hockey for the Rye Rangers organization and the Mamaroneck U14 Girls team.
Prior to St. Lawrence, Ellie spent four years at Shattuck-St. Mary’s playing two years on the 16U team and two years on the Girls Prep team, where they won back-to-back Minnesota State Championships in 2010 and 2011.
