Soccer Center of Excellence

A boys soccer player competes in a recent national tournament game for SSM.

Shattuck-St. Mary's Soccer Center of Excellence offers student-athletes an opportunity to develop their soccer skills within our full-time residential program or within our community academy. This elite-level comprehensive program provides a developmental environment similar to those found in youth academies at professional clubs around the world, while at the same time offering a rigorous college preparatory education.

Comprehensive Program from Student-Athletes

Our full-time residential program provides players with ten months of development and training. The program includes a daily regimen of individual and team training, soccer-specific conditioning, match competition, strength training and an on-going assessment and feedback process. Players in our residential academy attend school full-time at Shattuck-St. Mary’s as either a boarding or day school student. Our innovative college preparatory curriculum, combined with the soccer-specific training, thoroughly prepares these athletes for the rigors of a college environment.

Quality Training and Competition

Starting in September when school begins, players train daily and compete on weekends, afternoons or evenings throughout the school year. Competition is tailored to meet the needs of each age group team and includes games against youth clubs, high schools, amateur or college teams. Depending upon the age of the team, a yearly schedule of 40-50 games is provided. More importantly, a 4:1 ratio of training to games is maintained throughout the year! Providing quality competition that showcases our athletes also requires that our teams travel both regionally and nationally. Most often our teams travel by private coach except when distance or time requires air travel.

Experienced Coaches

Head coaches with years of experience at youth, collegiate or professional levels direct our teams and oversee the yearly training program. In addition, assistant coaches with past professional and collegiate playing experience provide academy players insight into what it takes to make it at the collegiate level or as a professional player. Working together, these coaches provide an integrated approach to player and team development within the academy. The majority of our Head Coaches hold a USSF “A” License, NSCAA Diploma or foreign coaching certification.
