This summer, Shattuck-St. Mary’s will be hosting its first ever Justice Choir Camp. This residential camp will center around learning songs from the Justice Choir Songbook, as well as providing singers with the tools needed to create positive change in their own communities.
The camp is open to all students entering grades 9-12, and will be held from Sunday, June 23rd to Friday, June 28th. Students will receive 2 ½ hours of choral instruction per day under the direction of Justice Choir Founders, Ahmed Anzaldua and Tesfa Wondemagegnehu, as well as Shattuck-St. Mary’s Director of Vocal Performance, Peter Schleif.
Additionally, singers will be given tips and tools to create positive change at home. From how to meet with local legislators, to how to communicate in an inclusive and welcoming way, various guests will be making presentations throughout the week. Team building and leadership activities, as well as social events, will also be a large part of the week!
Hosted on the beautiful campus of Shattuck-St. Mary’s in Faribault, MN, this camp aims to provide a safe and nurturing space for students to learn and grow both musically and socially.
Tuition, room and board for the week will be $450. Need-based scholarships are available.
