Project Shumway

April 02, 2015

Shattuck-St. Mary’s weCreate Center hosted Project Shumway which showcased the fashion design and creative sewing skills of dozens of students.

There was sparkling pink juice in champagne flutes and original music composed by Shattuck-St. Mary’s students. The lights were dim except for a few strategically placed spotlights. The large flat screen monitor was cued up and ready to go. The SSM paparazzi was in place. With final instructions and words of encouragement from Ms. Sobol, Project Shumway was ready to roll. There were more than 20 clothing items - everything from knit hats and scarves to halter tops to prom dresses - created by 10 designers. The models confidently strode the runway to the applause and cheers from the crowd. After the main event, there was a festive reception in lower weCreate thanks to the culinary skills of Shayna Kasdan ’16.
