Greetings from Faribault!
Today I write to you in-between breaks of the annual Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS) Heads Conference. Typically, heads of independent schools from across the Midwest gather for two days of professional development, leadership discussions, idea-sharing, and collegiality. This year, like almost everything else, we are meeting virtually.
While I would much prefer to attend this conference in-person–just as we would all rather have our students and faculty learning together in-person full-time–we are adapting and not missing a beat. I am inspired by examples of how other schools have adjusted to the unique challenges of this year and am reminded of how proud I am of our students, families, faculty, staff, and our SSM community beyond the Arch, who have all dug deep within to rise above the adversity this year has presented.
Two other virtual events have been sources of inspiration for me this week. Last Saturday we wrapped up our multi-day Winter Board of Trustees meeting and the latest SSM Parents’ Association meeting was held on Monday. Both meetings went very well and it is evident that there are a whole lot of wonderful, committed people in our community who care an awful lot about the success of our School, its students, and its employees. And we are so thankful for that.
Combined, these meetings have spurred some positive updates and great questions. To share the latest news and address incoming questions, we would like to invite parents to an upcoming SSM Town Hall, where our administrative team will provide updates on COVID procedures, opportunities to expand community building, and more, before we open the floor to answer follow-up questions.
We have scheduled two different Town Hall times below to try to best accommodate our families around the world. Please submit questions you’d like our team to address to [email protected]
. We will build your questions into the presentation and will provide a summary of what was discussed via email to all parents after the last Town Hall. If you have COE-specific questions, please direct them to your COE director.
