It’s Women’s History Month, and we’re excited to share the accomplishments of our female students and alumni in a year that has been especially historic in its challenges.
The Shattuck-St. Mary’s community is full of women who have gone on to become Olympic athletes, professional musicians, scientists, small business owners, politicians, and teachers, to name a few. Each and every woman who comes to SSM as a student, parent, teacher, coach, or staff member becomes an integral part of making our School the special place that it is. All-Around and Academic Fields
- BioScience Senior Gwen Eichfeld recently won a Regional Science and Engineering Fair Award which allows her to advance to the International Competition
- BioScience Senior Ao (Amber) Lu published her first research paper in a professional journal and was elected Vice President of Public Partnership of the organization Future Health Professionals
- Grace Paulsen ’09 and Kelly Kiewel ’10 achieved Forbes “30 Under 30” recognition in the “Energy” and “Games” categories respectively
- Esther Agbaje ’03, a member of the Board of Trustees, won her campaign to represent House District 59B in the Minnesota State Legislature
- Lotte Aga ’22 partnered with the Faribault Diversity Coalition to help put on this year’s International Festival
Athletics
- The U19 Girls soccer team traveled to Phoenix, Ari. to compete in and win the Presidents’ Day Tournament
- Noëlle Needham ’04 is on track to become the first female General Manager in NHL history
- Kate Bittenbender ’25 and Claire Wisdo ’27 successfully competed with their local mountain biking team, and Claire even won the award of “Racer with Heart.”
Arts
- VPP Senior Hannah Ray ’21 took first place in the vocal category of the Northern State University Department of Music’s 2021 Friends of the Arts/NSU Young Artist Competition
- Wynnm Murphy ’14 released the EP album that she’s been working on for the last year
- Zoie Reams ’10 received the Nathan M. Pusey Young Alumni Distinguished Achievement Award from Lawrence University for her “exemplary opera career.”
- Cate Carson ’20 won the 63rd Annual Young People’s Concerto Competition
