This past weekend, Shattuck-St. Mary’s student Jack Hickey ’23 competed in the Men’s Regional Gymnastics Championships, where he qualified to compete at the USA Men’s Developmental National Championships.
Jack has been training with his current club team, Mini-Hops Gymnastics, six days a week for the last seven years. This is his first year competing as a Level 10 Men’s Optional Gymnast, which is the highest level of the Men’s Development Program under USA Gymnastics.
Jack advanced throughout the season in local competitions, followed by the Minnesota Men’s State Gymnastics Competition, and finally by the Men’s Regional Gymnastics Championships, where he qualified for the Men’s Developmental National Championships. Eligible gymnasts in levels 8, 9, and 10 are able to compete at Nationals, which will take place May 11-17th in Daytona Beach, Florida. The season culminates in June with the selection of Level 10 athletes that will attend the P&G Gymnastics Championships.
USA Gymnastics also includes Men and Women’s College Gymnastics, as well as the selection for the World and Olympic Teams. Shane Wiskus, a member of the World Team who will be competing at the upcoming Olympics, is an alumnus of the same gym that Jack trains with now.
Join us in congratulating Jack and wishing him the best of luck in his upcoming competitions!
