Hayden’s Community Walk Contribution

April 23, 2015

Shattuck-St. Mary’s Community Walk is getting its final touches, thanks to engineering wiz Hayden Bingham ’16.

The Community Walk has been slowly emerging and an important step was taken this week to give it true meaning. The purpose of the Community Walk, in addition to adding a scenic sidewalk on the west edge of the Parade Field, is to remember and honor those dedicated employees who have served Shattuck School, St. Mary’s Hall, St. James School, and Shattuck-St. Mary’s for 20 years and longer. The light posts will hold plaques from different periods of the School’s history. Engineering Center of Excellence student Hayden Bingham ’16 and Mr. Boone were able to figure out a way to produce the acrylic plaques in our Engineering Lab using a software program CorelDraw and a laser cutter. Each of the acrylic plaques will be produced in a similar fashion. How great is that? An engineering solution to a campus project is provided by one of our students under the mentorship of our teacher.
