Meet Our New Teachers and Coaches

Here are some new faces on campus.

Pat Cullen, Director of Player Development

Coach Cullen has spent numerous summers at SSM coaching hockey camps. He most recently served as the assistant coach at St. Olaf College. He has also coached and worked as the general manager at the junior hockey level in the North American Hockey League. Coach Cullen earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Bemidji State University and began his career as the head coach for five years at Hamline University. 


Beau Farrell, Girls Soccer Assistant Coach

Coach Farrell joins us as an assistant coach within the expanding Girls Soccer Center of Excellence program. He holds a Master’s of Science degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology from Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida. Most recently, he has coached U13-U18 NPL level girls and boys soccer for St. Louis Scott Gallagher - Illinois.

Dr. Jennifer Farrell, School Counselor

Dr. Farrell holds Master degrees in Social Work/Mental Health from Washington University in St. Louis and Kinesiology from the University of Illinois. She received her Ph.D. in Sport and Exercise Psychology from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. She comes to us from McCallum Place in St. Louis, MO where she worked as a Psychology Consultant. 

Aaron Fenton, U16 DA and U17/18 DT Boys Soccer Assistant Coach, Whipple Dorm Parent

Coach Fenton comes to SSM with soccer coaching experience at all levels. Most recently he was the Director of Soccer at the Paducah Regional Sportplex in Paducah, Kentucky. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management from Bacone College in Muskogee, Oklahoma. 

Sam Gross, Math Instructor, Breck Dorm Parent

Mr. Gross recently earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics Education from the University of Northwestern in St. Paul, Minnesota.  While a college student, Mr. Gross worked as a summer camp counselor at Bluewater Covenant Bible Camp in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.  

Polina Isurin, Visual Arts Instructor, Andreas House Dorm Parent

Ms. Isurin is an accomplished artist, receiving numerous awards and honors. Her artwork has been exhibited both domestically and abroad, and is also displayed in the permanent collection at The Ohio State University. Ms. Isurin earned her Master’s degree in Fine Arts from Tufts University.

Nathaniel King, Head Coach Girls U17 Soccer, Whipple Dorm Parent

Coach King earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and Biology at St. Joseph’s College in Rensselear, Indiana and he’s  currently working towards his Master’s degree is Sport Science with the United States Sports Academy. His hometown is London, England. He’s played soccer professionally in Europe and in the US. Coach King most recently coached boys and girls soccer in the Colorado Rapids Development Academy. 

The Rev. Colin Maltbie, Chaplain

Reverend Maltbie comes to SSM from St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Kasson, Minnesota where he has served as Rector since 2012. He earned his B.A. degree in Psychology from San Francisco State University, his in Counseling Psychology from the University of Saint Thomas, Minneapolis and a Master of Divinity from the Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia.    

Heather Morehead, Science Instructor, St. Mary’s Hall Dorm Parent

Ms. Morehead earned her Master’s degree in Teaching Secondary Science from Johns Hopkins University. She brings six years of Biology and Chemistry teaching experience within private schools in the Baltimore area and also served as a Teach for America mentor for first-year science teachers in Baltimore City Schools. 

Andrea Moyer, History Instructor, Breck Dorm Parent

Ms. Moyer earned her Master’s degree in History Education from Arcadia University, Glenside, Pennsylvania. Ms. Moyer is a native to Minnesota but most recently taught Ancient Civ, World and US History in independent schools for eight years in the greater Philadelphia area.   

Olivia Pizii, Intern with Golf Center of Excellence 

Coach Pizii, is working towards her Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Professional Golf Management from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, MI. Coach Pizii will join the Golf COE as coaching intern this fall.  

Matt Priem, Math Instructor

Mr. Priem holds a Master’s degree in Mathematics from Minnesota State University, Mankato. He’s served as an instructor within MSU’s math department  since 2010 teaching Calculus, Finite Mathematics, Computer Science, College Algebra and Statistics.  

Joe Sawicki, Director of Sports Medicine

Mr. Sawicki earned his Master’s degree in Heath Education from Worcester State College and his Bachelor’s degree in Sports Medicine from Merrimack College.  He comes to SSM from Bridgton Academy in North Bridgton, Maine where he served as Athletic Director, Head Athletic Trainer and Strength and Conditioning Coordinator.

Dale Weiler, U14 Boys Soccer Assistant Coach

Coach Weiler received his Master’s degree in Sports Administration and Leadership from Augustana College, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He has coached at the college and club levels, most recently he served as Competitive Director of Coaching for the Dakota Alliance Soccer Club.
