ScholarShift Stories: Camera 1, Take 1

October 05, 2016

Module provides students with a crash course in sports broadcasting.

To turn on Monday Night Football or the night’s big NHL match-up is easy, but several SSM students with an interest in sports broadcasting learned more about the hard work that goes into each telecast during a ScholarShift module on Sunday, October 2 in the weCreate Studio.

Led by SSM Communications Specialist Megan Maschoff (former pregame producer of Minnesota State’s men’s hockey broadcasts), the course focuses on the basic fundamentals of sports broadcast production, behind-the-scenes processes, filming and editing techniques, and post-production work. Using those techniques, each participating student will work on a mini-broadcast that they will present at the second module session on Sunday, October 9.
