Congratulations to Abigail Hansen ’17, who earned the David Colwell Award and was named a finalist at the Young People’s Symphony Concert Association’s (YPSCA) 60th Annual School Music Auditions on Sunday, January 29.

Hansen (harp) was honored for her performance of “Sacred and Profane Dances” by Claude Debussy at the Auditions, held in Minneapolis at Orchestra Hall.

This is the 60th year YPSCA has presented the School Music Auditions (SMA), a competition for talented instrumental students and pianists in grades 7 through 12 who are enrolled full-time in an accredited school in the Upper Midwest.

Following preliminary auditions, Hansen was one of 10 young musicians chosen to participate in the Finals at Orchestra Hall, where participants competed for 12 awards valued at a total of $7,100.
