ScholarShift Stories: Junk Journaling

April 06, 2017

Students tell striking visual stories through journal building module.

Shattuck-St. Mary’s students created handmade books comprised of recycled and reclaimed items as part of a recent ScholarShift module, concluding on Wednesday, April 5.

Led by weCreate Director Stephanie Vagle and Assistant to the President Jennifer Hillesheim, students began work on their journals using items such as paper from magazines, brochures, patterned paper, music sheets, greeting cards, post cards, and much more in weSolve.

These components were then packaged to create a more visually striking diary featuring graphics, memorabilia and keepsake items. Through this medium, students were able to tell stories, recall memories, and revisit impactful events in a fresh and creative way.
