SSM and Faribault community members tour facility, learn more about operations at MRG Tool and Die.

Led by Shattuck-St. Mary’s [email protected] program, SSM and Faribault community members toured MRG Tool and Die on Thursday, April 13 as part of the Hometown Hi-Tech Tour series. Open to local students in grades 3-12, the visit was the second of three local tours included in the series.

MRG Tool and Die has specialized in a wide variety of high quality, close tolerance metal working specialties, including stamping dies, plastic injection molding, jigs and fixtures, production machining, and more in Faribault since 1979. The tour was conducted by Rod Granse, director of operations at MRG Tool and Die, as attendees got a first-hand look at production.

In addition to learning more about each organization, a primary focus of the tours is for attendees to learn more about the careers and backgrounds of the employees at each company–and to potentially pique student interest in the fields explored.

The Hometown Hi-Tech Tour series, which began with a tour of SageGlass on March 9, will conclude on May 4 with a stop at Faribault’s Wastewater Reclamation Facility.
