Students learn the art of crafting decorative cakes at popular Faribault small business.

SSM students headed to Faribault’s Bluebird Cakery on Monday, October 9 to learn the art of decorating and crafting aesthetically pleasing cakes as part of a ScholarShift® module.

After receiving a behind-the-scenes look at the popular local business, students headed to the second floor of the building to start their cakes. Under the guidance of Bluebird’s professional cake decorator, the group mixed and added a base layer of frosting. Next, they added secondary frosting layers and learned how to make several different creative designs.
