Shattuck-St. Mary’s welcomed community members to campus for a full slate of events and activities during Fall Family Weekend on October 13-15.
Weekend festivities began with an All-School Community Gathering in Johnson Gymnasium on Friday morning, which featured impressive performances from the SSM Crack Squad and Wooden Soldiers, as well as members of several of SSM’s performing arts groups.
Following lunch, families had the opportunity to explore the campus while they met with teachers, coaches, and advisors for conferences.
On Friday evening, a special reception was held at The Inn, followed by the official renaming of the “Old Barn” to the John R. Sumner Arena in honor of SSM’s longtime hockey coach. The event was punctuated by a puck drop prior to the Boys Bantam game against the Boston Terriers, with several of Sumner’s family members and former players in attendance. He was also honored during the Community Gathering earlier in the day.
Members of the Pre-Conservatory and Vocal Performance Centers of Excellence closed the night with a dazzling performance in Newhall Auditorium.
The Weekend concluded with athletic events across campus, along with additional conference time and a community wine reception on Saturday evening.
