On Friday, October 20, Shattuck-St. Mary’s BioScience Center of Excellence students traveled to Carleton College in Northfield Minn. for their annual student research poster session. During the session, SSM BioScience Program students were able to talk with Carleton undergraduates who completed research projects over the summer.
The subjects ranged from biology to engineering and the humanities. The group also ran into a few Shattuck-St. Mary’s alumni!
One project of particular interest to the BioScience students, “The Effect of Prolonged Sleep Restriction on the Cardiovascular Response to Mental Stress,” was presented by Carleton College student Zachary Trottier. During the session, BioScience students, Audrey Hong ’19 and Alex Drapala ’18 had the opportunity (see photo) to chat with Mr. Trottier about his research project.
SSM BioScience Center of Excellence students will hold a research poster session of their own on Wednesday, December 6, during periods 4 and 5 in weCreate.
