Members of the Shattuck-St. Mary’s Pre-Conservatory Program spent their first day of spring break travelling to St. Paul, Minnesota to compete in the Schubert Club Student Scholarship Competition. Magdiell Antequera (violin), Mark Prihodko (cello), Mariya Zabara (cello) and Daniel Eras (piano) all passed on to the finals to be held on March 21, 2015.
“The Schubert Club Student Scholarship Competition, held each spring, awards approximately $50,000 annually to young musicians. (An additional $10,000 is given away in other scholarship and grant programs.) Two cash prizes in each age and instrument category are awarded – $2000 and $1500 – to be used for further musical education. The Competition is named in memory of Bruce P. Carlson, executive director of The Schubert Club from 1968 to 2006.”
