Community members of all nations joined together on Friday, February 16 to celebrate culture, diversity, food, and fun as part of Shattuck-St. Mary’s annual International Day.
Each year, the SSM community gathers for an afternoon honoring the diverse cultures represented within the School. Festivities kicked off with a rousing Flag Ceremony as students, faculty, and staff members from more than 30 different countries entered the Johnson Gymnasium with flags in-hand, with many partaking in a rendition of their nation’s national anthem.
After honoring each country represented at SSM, the school community had the opportunity to experience the authentic culture of each nation as they visited one of 27 stations positioned throughout the School. Each station featured delicious entrees, desserts, and beverages specific to each culture for all to sample, along with music, games, and activities that brought the campus alive throughout the afternoon.
The day concluded with a delicious international lunch prepared by SSM’s Food Service staff.
