Singing and Connecting

Dione Peterson’s Beau Chant ensemble connects the SSM community in Washington, D.C.

Since 2013, former SSM faculty member, Dione Peterson has been directing an adult choral ensemble called Beau Chant. A number of current and past faculty members have added their voices to Beau Chant and the group has toured internationally. This summer, they stayed closer to home with a trip to Washington, D.C.

An outgoing “people person,” Dione finds ways to connect SSM wherever she travels. The group performed at former SSM Chaplain Eva Cavaleri’s new home - the National Cathedral. Dione also connected with opera singer Zoie Reams ’10 who is performing at Wolf Trap this summer. She reached out to SSM alumni and friends in the D.C. area and made sure they knew of the group’s performing itinerary which included Arlington Cemetery, the U.S. Capitol, the front of the White House, the National Cathedral, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Jefferson Memorial,
