Family and Pets

I live in the Lodge with my lovely wife, Jennifer, and our 4 boys, Isaac (14 years old), Noah (12), Huckleberry (2), and Franklin (1).  We also have a dastardly dog, Clover, who is an energetic chocolate lab.

Favorite Place on Campus

It is so hard to name just one. Our buildings and grounds are simply beautiful, and I love just being here. I love the Hirst Library. It is beautiful and comforting. I love grabbing the paper or a book and relaxing. Whenever I am in there, time seems to cease to exist.  I also love simply walking around campus and the woods. We used to utilize the woods as a nature preserve with paths and benches. I miss that.

The old rink also holds a special place in my heart. Growing up, that was the only arena in town, and that is where I learned to skate. I spent so much time in there as a child with my friends. I could write about this forever. What a difficult question.

Favorite Book

The Saxon Stories by Bernard Cornwell

Why I love to teach

I love to teach and coach because it just feels natural and right.  I have never felt like it was a job, but something that I love to do. Some days are certainly challenging, but that is one of the many things that I love about this profession and this place.  It is a community coming together so everyone has the opportunity to grow, and we all need each other in order to make that happen.

Hobbies

Spending time with my family and friends, playing baseball, reading, and taking naps.
