Professional opera singer and graduate of SSM’s Vocal Performance Program, Zoie Reams ’10, will return to campus next week to perform with local choir Beau Chant, and to work with SSM student musicians.

Professional opera singer and graduate of SSM’s Vocal Performance Program, Zoie Reams ’10, will return to campus next week to perform with local choir Beau Chant, to work with SSM student musicians, and host a Deep Dive & Dessert talk in the weCreate Center.

Ms. Reams attended SSM from 2006-2010 and starred in many school productions, including a role as Dorothy in The Wiz. She also sang with the Minnesota Opera as a student musician. After graduating from SSM, she earned her Bachelor of Music at Lawrence University and her Master of Music from Louisiana State University.

In her early career, she went on to sing several roles with the Houston Grand Opera, where she completed her studies, and perform on the concert stage with the likes of the National Symphony Orchestra, the Houston Symphony Orchestra, and the Las Vegas Philharmonic.

Since then, Ms. Reams has sung with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Opera Columbus, Opera Louisiane, and the Des Moines Metro Opera to name a few, which included many leading or title roles. In the upcoming 2019-20 season, she will sing Maddalena in Rigoletto, Jan Arnold in Everest, and Georgia Davenport in Freedom Ride, traveling from Houston to San Antonio to Chicago, as well as performing the Messiah with Washington National Cathedral.

It is an honor to have Ms. Reams back on campus, performing locally, so don’t miss her return to Faribault, MN, where she will perform solos in three different pieces with Beau Chant for their annual Christmas concert.

She will also perform at the SSM Holiday Party in Minneapolis on December 11th, to which you can RSVP by emailing Kim Bakken at kim.bakken@s-sm.org or calling 1-888-729-4946.

The local choir is led by Dione Peterson Belling, a previous choir and vocal instructor at SSM, who has even brought Beau Chant to perform internationally. The first performance is at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, December 14th in Newhall Auditorium, and the second performance is at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 15th at the Cathedral of Our Merciful Savior.

Switching from Arts to Athletics, professional figure skater and graduate of the SSM Figure Skating Center of Excellence, Rachel Wegfahrt ’18, has returned to Minnesota while on tour with “Disney On Ice.” The show, “Worlds of Enchantment,” features characters from CarsToy StoryThe Little Mermaid, and the ever-applicable Frozen.

In an interview with The Morning Call, Rachel said, “The opportunity presented itself and I had to take it. I was going to continue skating and performing and doing what I love…You can’t put a price on traveling and performing what you love and sharing that with families.”

Rachel does both character and ensemble work, and serves as the understudy for Toy Story’s Jessie and Frozen’s Anna.

The shows will take place at the Xcel Energy Center from December 5-8 at a variety of showtimes.
