Friends of Figure Skating

Shattuck-St. Mary's Friends of Figure Skating supports the mission and vision of the Figure Skating Center of Excellence by providing financial resources to enhance the development of elite skaters, coaches, and facilities for future generations.

The purpose of this restricted fund is to offer alumni, parents, and supporters of the SSM Figure Skating Center of Excellence the opportunity to contribute through charitable donations. Donations to this fund assist SSM athletes, coaches, and figure skating-related equipment and facilities, aiming to ensure the program's long-term sustainability. In accordance with the School's restricted gift policy, 10% of donations made to SSM's Friends of Figure Skating will be directed to the Annual Fund to support the School's general operating budget. The remaining funds will be equally allocated to three key areas: immediate needs, future initiatives, and capital projects.

As we continue to look to the future, Shattuck-St. Mary's Friends of Figure Skating is devoted to aiding student-athletes in pursuing goals and embracing various aspects of school life.

30% of donations will be directed to the annual budget of the Figure Skating COE.

After engaging in yearly planning and budget discussions with the CFO, the Director of Figure Skating will prioritize, allocate funds, and execute annual budgets to enhance the overall program performance by expanding access to training sessions and coaching opportunities. 30% of funds will be deposited into a Figure Skating COE endowment fund that will provide long-term support to the program.

Once the required minimum corpus of $100,000 is reached, the fund will be endowed, and the School will follow a 5% distribution draw per year. The funds dispersed through the endowment draw will be managed by the Director of Figure Skating, the Director of Admissions, and CFO to increase the financial aid pool for figure skating athletes attending SSM.

30% of donations will be allocated to support capital improvements to figure skating-related facilities.

The Head of School, CFO, and Sports Complex Manager (with input from the Director of Figure Skating) will prioritize, budget, and spend funds on improvements to these facilities. Any surplus funds above the year's capital budget will roll over to the following year, earmarked for as-needed facilities improvements.
